Last week at Spring Break in Austria I tested out a couple of pairs of Union bindings and one of the stand out pairs were the Trilogy’s. First up i’m going to say that I LOVE the colour options for these bindings, and the rose gold metal details are amazing – If I was buying bindings purely on looks then these would be purchased in 0.01 seconds.I’m going to get technical now because looking pretty alone won’t cut it – the Trilogy’s are super light weight ( the lightest women’s bindings on the market to be precise) and you really do notice it. After setting up a pair on the Capita Danger Pony it honestly felt 10x lighter than the setup I normally ride (Nikita expression with Salomon Rythm bindings). Setup was easy as the base plates are easy to use and tighten.Being light weight doesn’t mean that they are flimsy though, the heel cups are extruded and are designed to give you maximum heel hold and less drag. Made from aluminium the heel cups on these are the strongest in the binding game so they will certainly keep performing season after season.
The plastic parts on the bindings are made from Duraflex St Nylon which sounds fancy but it basically means they have been designed to withstand really cold temperatures for extra strength and durability. Tool free adjustment is another great feature on these, if you need to slightly adjust the heel or toe strap you don’t need a screw driver to do it which is really handy. When it came to actually testing these bindings I fell in love with them straight away, I really love the toe straps on them. When you tighten them they just seem to mould around your boots nicely and they fit really comfortably.I had a lot of fun doing side hits and taking laps through the park. The Trilogy’s felt super responsive and still felt comfortable after a few laps without the need to adjust them at all. Overall I think these bindings are incredible value for money, with riders like Jamie Anderson & Jess Kimura choosing to ride these you know they are going to be a good strong choice. The Trilogy’s will be available in White, Black or Burgundy all with the dreamy rose gold details. Subvert Boardstore are a Union stockist so keep an eye out for them arriving in Autumn.
